White Sands was developed in 1971 when Henry Moo-Young and his late wife Gloria decided to build four spacious apartments on the most beautiful beach in Jamaica. Their hospitality philosophy was, and remains today, to provide simple, clean rooms at an affordable price. Over thirty five years have passed, four rooms have grown to forty six and Henry still lives on property and greets guests each day.
Having grown up with eleven brothers and sisters Henry is a firm believer in the strength of the family. So much so that he and his family are responsible for the total management and care of the resort. Guests are treated like family and some have been returning for their annual holiday for well over 25 years.
White Sands is ideal for the undemanding traveler who prefers the ambience of a bed and breakfast to that of a traditional hotel. In fact we take pride in being described as a simple resort with a non-hotel atmosphere.
It is our philosophy that a vacation is all about spending time with family and friends. Vacations are best spent catching up on the quality time missed with those who matter most to you. And it is best achieved by eliminating the everyday distractions that distance you from loved ones. It is for this reason that at White Sands you will not find televisions, telephones and internet connections in our rooms.
For all those who fear they would suffer withdrawals without these modern conveniences, rest assured there is a telephone in the front office, you can use your cell phone or you can rent a cell phone. We offer free wireless access by the front office and there is a television at our beach bar.
In a way we challenge our guests to disconnect from their everyday working lives and reconnect with those near and dear to them. In a digital, on-demand world this can be a challenge for some. It is our hope that at White Sands Negril you escape to a pace of life that you control and not that which controls you.
Life is good. And at White Sands Negril, we think life is pretty great.
We look forward to hosting you.
